Essential Digital Camera Features
Since Christmas isn’t far away the time is here once again to start to think about gift buying. Digital cameras have continued to fall in price so it’s highly likely that a few of these will find their way into some Christmas stockings this year. But if you are shopping for a digital camera do you know what features to look out for?
You’re probably already aware of the importance of a good quality lens. You are probably also aware of megapixels and how the higher the number means a crisper image.
But what about image stabilization technology. This is the clever way that modern cameras can compensate for low light conditions, where higher exposure times are needed, and wobbly hands.
Another potentially useful feature is auto face detection and auto focus capability. Cameras with this capability can recognize facial features and automatically adjust the focus to make the face as sharp as possible. Ideal for anyone who prefers the simple point and click style of digital camera.
A good zoom is another feature to look out for. Some cameras use a digital zoom and others use a more conventional optical zoom. Optical zoom is generally sharper than digital which simply enlarges the digital image, lowering the resolution and making the image less sharp.
Another factor to consider is battery life. I recommend selecting a camera that uses rechargeble batteries.
Other features to consider include interchangeable lenses and built in features like filters and editing capabilities.
Also, take a look at what software comes with the package. Most modern digital cameras come with a bunch of applications for processing and editing images.
Something extra to consider when buying a new camera is some affordable camera insurance. Modern, lightweight digital cameras are easily lost or damaged so its worth making certain you can get a replacement quickly and without any fuss.
In addition you may like to consider gadget insurance to protect valuable portable devices including laptop insurance for valuable laptop computers.

Digital Camera Accessories Review
After all the technological improvements that have been made to digital cameras they still need accessories to optimize their performance and link to other devices.
The most common and essential accessory of digital cameras is the memory card. Whilst cameras have relatively large built in memory space it can only store so much. On some occasions you will take so many pictures that all the space you have is used up before you can download them onto an external or suitable device. Various sizes are available ranging from 1 GB to 16 GB
Another thing that you need to invest in when it comes to digital cameras is extra batteries and chargers. There are those occasions where you cannot afford to run out of power and have the camera switching off on you. To help with taking pictures at night you could buy a simple lighting system that you can use.
You can also prolong the life of your camera and accessories by buying cases and bags for them. They will be able to offer all kinds of protection. Damage and breakage can be avoided should the camera or its accessories accidentally fall. They also offer protection from severe weather conditions such as the excessive sunlight, dust and the sometimes the rain.
One thing that I’ve discovered is always great to have around is portable printer. I get people who always want printed copies of some of the photos that I take and having a portable printer helps a lot. If you are going to be taking pictures for a long session you might want a tripod to place the camera on. You get to rest your hands and avoid shooting blurred images.
various accessories are on offer to make taking pictures less of a hassle. Even though you might not be able to afford them all at the same time you can buy them over a period of time. Save Big By Purchasing Your Next Digital Camera Online
It’s vacation time! For most people, few things are more important to a vacation than taking good pictures. After all’s been said and done, you’d want to have something to remind you of that great day at the lake when Junior fell in with his first catch or how Uncle Ted wore his shorts inside out at the beach.
The key to great vacation photos is, of course, is being at the right place at the right time. And that timing is greatly helped by having a camera reliably on hand to capture those moments and everything in between.
For the vacationer who just wants to capture those memorable scenes, a small, compact handy camera is a great choice. A Nikon Coolpix camera is a very good choice. It’s compact to be handy, yet powerful enough to capture those on-the-fly moments, even if you’re a good few meters away.
Whether you choose to get a new model or opt for a used Nikon camera, you’re still going to get great photos. You just need a few tips to consider so that you can get the most out of your vacation.
Tip # 1: Invest in batteries.
Nothing’s worse than running out of battery power at the most crucial times. So find high-capacity batteries that fits your camera. Buy lithium ion batteries as these now are the type with the highest capacity. To help you save, invest a little more on rechargeable batteries, still lithium ion if your funds allows it. And when we say invest, we aren’t just talking about money. Take the time to re-charge your batteries in between events. It’s also a good idea to keep an unopened pack of batteries in your camera bag as an emergency set, when your rechargeables run out. Remember to change these with a new pack when you use them.
Tip # 2: Invest on the lenses.
Features like megapixels and zoom are very nice, but as it is with all things: garbage in-garbage out. When it comes to cameras, lenses are where everything starts. If you can, purchase Nikon camera lenses to complement your existing camera. You will have greater options for taking really good pictures if you purchase an extra pair of lenses, like a telephoto lens.
Tip # 3: Always invest in security.
Another huge vacation downer is when you lose your pictures – either because the camera got stolen, or because it got knocked over damaging the camera. Prevent these by investing in good, secure camera bags when you purchase a Nikon digital camera. Several manufacturers make cases that can be customized to fit not just the camera, but other peripherals as well like extra lenses, flash sets and batteries.
In addition to that, find a strong, sturdy lanyard that can be attached to your camera and can be worn around your neck or slung around your shoulders. Having the camera latched to your body not only prevents the camera from, say, falling into the water, it also helps prevent the camera from being snatched from you.
If you’re in the market to buy Nikon cameras, a good place to start is at http://www.nikoncameras4less.com. You’re sure to find a model that not only fits your budget, but also becomes an invaluable tool to preserve those vacation memories.

Polaroid Is Dead
I suppose that it may depend upon your age, but I am old enough to recall just how thrilling it was to huddle around a Polaroid snapshot whilst it was developing. You were never really sure just how it would turn out until the image had solidified - right there in front of your very eyes. When the process was complete, you were left with a picture, often with slightly varied colours, which had no negative, and was, let’s face it, a bit on the pricey side.
Today, as a result of the dominance of digital cameras, Polaroid is just not instant enough. The cameras went out of production some time ago and the last films were shipped in January of 2009. It’s easy to see why if you consider the following statistics?
2000 Sales
Polaroid cameras 4.2 million
Digital cameras 4.5 million
2007 Sales
Polaroid cameras 240 thousand
Digital cameras 28.2 million
With sales figures like that it’s no wonder the Polaroid camera is being withdrawn.
However, the Polaroid had achieved an iconic status over the years, so it’s unsurprising to learn that groups of enthusiasts have launched campaigns to “save Polaroid”. There are hopes that someone else will take over the production of the film and make this under licence. In the meantime, and with a certain amount of irony, both films and cameras are for sale on EBay at hugely inflated prices. It’s not out of the question that, if Polaroid themselves had been able to command these types of prices levels then they wouldn’t have needed to file for Chapter 11 just a few short years ago.
Looking forward, Polaroid have entered the digital age by producing a combined digital camera and printer which uses a heat activated dye to produce a printed image in around about a minute.
The camera, dubbed the “PoGo”, has a three inch LCD screen for checking your photos before printing. Bearing in mind that the special printer paper will cost around $13 for enough to produce 30 photos you may want to be certain that you’ve got a “keeper” before you press the print button.Polaroid believe that it will appeal to law enforcement officers and customs staff who may require an immediate hard copy of identity photographs. Only time will tell.

The Canon EOS Rebel T1i Review
1. The Canon EOS Rebel Ti In Brief
Overall this is a good, if not a great camera, the Canon EOS Rebel Ti is a good, if not great medium range SLR which is relatively affordable and offers 15 megapixels for a higher resolution than many competing models of digital camera. 2. LCD Display
The 3″ LCD screen is faultless and is in fact one of the better LCD displays we’ve seen.
3. Image quality and autofocus are both good, but maybe not quite what you’d expect with a 15 megapixel from Canon. The biggest complaint users seem to have is that the Canon EOS Rebel Ti’s autofocus mechanism is loud. While only a little noisy at ISO 1600, switching to ISO 3200 can be loud enough to startle users the first couple of times. It’s not enough of an issue to be a deal breaker, but it is something photographers should know beforehand. 4. Picture Quality/Live View
Overall, the picture quality is good but not great. Pictures are sharp and reasonably clear; amateur photographers will probably find the quality more than adequate. However, semi-pro and professional photographers will probably want to look elsewhere. The live view stills are nothing to write home about. The quality is exactly as good as any other similar model of digital camera.
5. Processor
The Canon EOS Rebel Ti has a new, upgraded processor but 15 megapixel images are a lot to process, so users will probably feel (as we did) that save time could be better. The processing time can be an issue when trying to take continuous shots of a subject, something you should consider before buying this camera.
6. HD Recorder
In this regard, the Canon EOS Rebel Ti performs exceptionally well. The HD recording features of this camera are superior to almost any other digital camera in its range. At 720p, the HD recording quality is incredible at 30 fps. However, this model records 1080p at only 20fps. However, if you need 1080p resolution, you’re better off with a HD camcorder instead. The Rebel lacks a microphone input and its built in sound recording is less than spectacular - so you can get some amazing 720p HD video, but if you need sound which is good as the picture, you’ll be disappointed.
Conclusion:
The Canon EOS Rebel T1i has a number of minor faults, but they are just that: minor. Overall, this is a very solid high-res digital camera which performs as well or better than a lot of competing models. Given the Rebel’s price, however, many consumers may wish for a little more. It’s not a bad choice for the amateur photographer, but there are some better choices out there in the same price range.

Five Great Points To Shoot That Portrait
One of the most popular forms of photography is portrait photography. Just about anyone who can point and shoot their camera can be considered portrait photographers. Obviously, however, there are differences in the quality of the portraits. There are certain tricks that professional portrait photographers use that allow them get the best out of their subjects. Portraits do not necessarily mean only a person’s image. Portraits show character and emotion. If it is your goal to become a good portrait photographer I am about to share with you five tips that can give you a step up on the competition.
Rapport: The first thing you need to do is build rapport with your subject. Having an interest in your models is definitely a plus. If you show an interest in your subject a comfort level is reached that allows them to be more natural in front of the camera. When the shutter is clicked your chances of getting amazing photos is increased tenfold.
Personality: The best photographs show the viewer a bit of the subject’s personality. This occurs best if you have an insight to the person. You want their personality to shine in the look in their eyes or the set of their mouth. A hint is that their personality will usually come out when they are not expecting a shot to be taken, so you have to be ready to take the picture when the opportunity comes.
Lighting: Most photographers prefer natural lighting. However since you want to emphasize the person’s face and character, you should always consider using artificial lighting. Be sure that light is evenly distributed, or that it satisfies the angle that you want to emphasize. Lighting can have a great effect especially if your they want a serious picture.
Background: Most portraits have light backgrounds to emphasize the subject. You can also use the environment to add more character to your subject. Also, be sure that the colors of your background and the dress of your subject compliment each other. Sometimes backgrounds become the flaw of a picture because the photographer took it for granted.
Plan: It is important to have a plan prior to the shoot. You not only want to make sure you have all the proper equipment but you also want to be sure that you have the qualifications necessary for the job. Prepare all the necessary materials and be sure to bring a good topic for conversation so that your subject can relax while you are shooting.
Portrait photography is one of the most satisfying hobbies that I have found. If you’re serious in making it your career, you can be sure that it can be lucrative as long as you perfect your craft. However, remember that you should have the heart for the job because portrait photography’s first requirement is interest.
